Background & Education

I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University, and my BA in Psychology and Music from the University of Rochester. My clinical practice is shaped by my lived experience as a Chinese international student, which deepened my commitment to supporting others navigating cross-cultural identity, belonging, and emotional healing.

Bilingual and Culturally Informed Therapy

我会说中文 | Mandarin-Speaking Therapist

I specialize in working with Chinese-speaking clients and those navigating East Asian cultural values, including:

  • Collectivism, filial piety, and intergenerational family roles

  • Mental health stigma in immigrant communities

  • Emotional expression shaped by cultural norms

  • Bicultural identity and spiritual integration in therapy

My clients often share how meaningful it is to work with someone who understands the emotional complexities of immigration, academic pressure, family expectations, and cultural duality.

Inclusive Spiritual Awareness

While not faith-based, I welcome and honor your spiritual identity. I have personal and professional experience with:

  • Buddhism, Confucian traditions, and East Asian spiritual frameworks

  • Christianity (including prayer, church community, and gospel music)

  • Judaism (basic understanding of values, traditions, and holidays)

I approach spirituality with cultural humility and openness, holding space for your beliefs to support your healing journey.
