Dr. Baheia A. Derweesh completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Birzeit University, an Ed.D. in Counselor Education from Northeastern Illinois University, and a doctoral in education from Argosy University. Before joining National Lewis University, she was the Student life acting chair/ Lead Counselor and lecturer at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi for the past 8 years. Dr. Baheia held the position of Psychotherapist at the American Center for Psychiatry & Neurology in Abu Dhabi from 2004-2010, as well as Care & Rehabilitation Director for the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children from 2008-2009. She was the Director of the clinical program at Baheia Derweesh, LCPC, from 2010-2017.
Baheia has many years of experience working with trauma survivors (including domestic violence and sexual assault) and War Victims. She is experienced in working with Depression, Anxiety, Eating disorders, and children with behavioral issues. Baheia offers telehealth therapy in both English and Arabic.
Recipient of many awards, including the Arab American Action Network Outstanding Commitment to Empowering the Community, the Fitzer Award of Administrative Services, Metropolitan Family Services, Graduate College, Northeastern Illinois University and Jane Adams Graduate Scholarship, Northeastern Illinois University.
